The Value of In-home Lifestyle Films
Can I share with you why you’ll remember an in-home lifestyle video session more than any other day?
It comes down to presence. You see, in order for a positive memory to imprint in our brains, it takes at least 15-30 seconds of really being present. Often, we’re physically present but our minds are elsewhere. During a film session, the phones are away, the to-do list can wait and you’re there. You have a chance to be present, active and engaged. Your brain is imprinting the memory during your in-home session.
So, let’s talk Sunday morning breakfast. It’s a family staple here in the Midwest. I have fond memories of going to church, then heading to my small town’s diner. Sunday breakfast was my family’s time to connect, be heard and enjoy each other’s company. Of course, this was pre-phone, so we really had to sit and be present with each other!
For the Elling family, the morning looks like jammies and pancakes. It’s the entire family in the kitchen, at the table. There’s dancing, signing and questions. Of course, there are sticky syrup kisses.
February of 2020 was a long time ago and by the time you’re seeing this, these children have grown and changed. Bryson is talking, Lyla is reading more and she has new questions. However, these parents will have this keepsake. I can guarantee, they will also have vivid memories from their perspective as well, because they were present.
This beautiful family took part in The Continuing Story, a one year, multi-film journey to document all of the most precious moments. The Continuing Story includes four in-home (or location of choice) lifestyle film and photo sessions. Also, a mac daddy culmination of all four films with a personal, meaningful touch.
