Madeline Island Marathon 2018

The Madeline Island Marathon and half-marathon takes place each year at end of May. The island hosts people from all over the Midwest and beyond who desire to run as well as see the beautiful landscape. Madeline Island is one of the Apostle Islands located in Lake Superior. It’s just off the north shore of Wisconsin.

Where do you visit that feels like you’re meant to be there? Do you feel at peace there?

This is Madeline Island for me. First, you must arrive in Bayfield, WI, to ride the ferry across  the mighty Superior. The experience is always a treat. There are breathtaking views.

Once on the island, cell reception is almost non-existent. Take a deep breath and enjoy the silence. The nicest, most humble locals you’ll ever meet welcome you with open arms. I have so many epic memories of camping with friends over the past 8 years. I’ve also run two half marathons on the island.

I’ll continue to go every year, I think, for the rest of my life. I plan to run the Madeline Island Marathon again, that’s a guarantee.
